Community Relations and Development Information Management System (Web Site)
refers to those aspects of a community that significantly influence the quality of community life and the general satisfaction that community members have about the state of their community (key contributors include education, health care, political process, transportation infrastructure, state of the economy, social relations etc.)
refers to the relations between (1) particular community groups, and/or (2) between the community as a whole and particular community groups
refers to activities that constructively protect, maintain and enhance key contributors to the quality of community life, including community relations (in accordance with the ethical framework that a society uses to govern its affairs)
The official community relations and development information management system is predominantly comprised of (1) a central web-site that is managed by and represents the Community Relations and Development Division (CRDD) of the South Carolina Human Affairs Commission (SCHAC), and (2) a set of websites that are managed by and represents the network of Community Relations and Development Councils (CRD-Council) throughout the State (the council websites are managed in collaboration with the CRDD-SHAC).
The purpose of this system is to:
(1) provide useful information about the CRDD-SHAC and the network of CRD-Councils
(2) promote informed citizenship by providing an organized and constructive source of information about community relations and development (e.g. articles, reports, research studies, surveys, court decisions etc.)
(3) provide information and resources that support the process of enhancing the quality of community life, including community relations
(4) provide a portal for securing support and resources from CRDD-SCHAC and CRD-Councils
(5) promote constructive and useful examination, expression and discussion of community relations and development via:
- an editorial process component of the website(s) (e.g. a blog
managed by the a CRD-Council)
- a managed online discussion component of the website
CRD-Council contacts the CRDD-SHAC and requests the establishment of a CRD Council website
CRDD-SHAC discusses the general requirements and guidelines for establishing a CRD Council website with the CRD counsel requesting the website
CRDD-SHAC sets up the CRD Council website with the suggested template, and provides some initial instruction on how to download and use the free and easy to use web page editor
CRDD-SHAC provides additional instruction and guidelines for expanded use of the website (e.g. introducing an editorial and/or online discussion component etc.)
