General Meet, Greet and Discuss

General Meet, Greet and Discuss is an organized but relatively informal process that brings together diverse community members and key community stakeholders for the purpose of meeting one another, developing their relationships, networking, and discussing key contributors to the quality of community life, including community relations

These discussions may result in the decision to make use of one of the other elements of the flexible/accordian style service provision system

Mobirise

refers to those aspects of a community that significantly influence the quality of community life, including community relations, and the general satisfaction that community members have about the state of their community (key contributors include education, health care, political process, transportation infrastructure, state of the economy, social relations etc.)

refers to the relations between (1) particular community groups, and/or (2) between the community as a whole and particular community groups

refers to activities that constructively protect, maintain and enhance key contributors to the quality of community life, including community relations (in accordance with the ethical framework that a society uses to govern its affairs)

 Conducting a General Meet, Greet and Discuss

  1. welcome the participants
  2. brief introduction to the meet, greet and discuss process
  3. speed dating exercise that introduces the participants to (1) one another, and (2) use of the awareness windows and mutual inquiry/learning process to promote constructive engagement (providing handouts on the awareness windows and mutual inquiry/learning process is suggested - click here)  (this does not need to occur if the participants are familiar with the process)
  4. brief presentation on the use of the awareness windows and the mutual inquiry/learning process (provided by one of the participants who has recieved training on the process - click here to review the training video)
  5. provide the participants with a list of key contributors to the quality of community life (click here to download the handout)
  6. identify a key contributor for discussion
  7. discuss the key contributor and identify key points arising from the discussion (click here to download a guide for discussing a key contributor to the quality of community life)
  8. discuss the key points and constructive responses to supporting the selected key contributor to the quality of community life
  9. discuss and identify an advisory strategy (if any)
  10. decide on next steps (if any)
