THE COMMUNITY RELATIONS AND DEVELOPMENT DIVISION (CRDD) OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HUMAN AFFAIRS COMMISSION (SHAC)
Foster cooperation and conciliation among diverse groups and elements within the population
while they
learn about, educate others, examine, advise on and support the development of key contributors to the quality of community life, including community relations
and by doing so
advance goodwill, harmony and the betterment of human affairs within South Carolina
To establish a diverse, competent and collaborative network of Community Relations and Development Councils (CRD-Councils) and other partners throughout the state of South Carolina
who
support activities that constructively shape key contributors to the quality of community life, including community
The primary responsibilities of the Community Relations and Development Division (CRDD-SHAC) are:
(1) partner with subject matter experts to help develop concepts, models, practices and resources that can support the functioning of the official community relations and development system
(2) support the process of establishing new CRD-Councils and partnerships with other organizations that have a similar mission
(3) support CRD-Councils and partners to develop their service provision model
(4) support the general functioning of the CRD-Councils (e.g. support with establishing the process of using Roberts Rules, and practices for promoting constructive dialogue)
(5) support CRD-Councils and partners to execute activities arising from the chosen elements of there service provision models (e.g. helping a local council or partner with an International Day of Peace event)
(6) ensure that CRD-Councils are in reasonable compliance with the South Carolina Human Affairs Act
(7) plan and execute the Annual South Carolina Community Relations and Development Conference
(8) develop the annual State of Community Development and Relations Report for the Commissioner
