Community Relations and Development Events Management

Events management is an organized process for planning and executing an event that supports constructive examination and shaping of key contributors to the quality of community life, including community relations

Mobirise

refers to those aspects of a community that significantly influence the quality of community life and the general satisfaction that community members have about the state of their community (key contributors include education, health care, political process, transportation infrastructure, state of the economy, social relations etc.)

refers to the relations between (1) particular community groups, and/or (2) between the community as a whole and particular community groups

refers to activities that constructively protect, maintain and enhance key contributors to the quality of community life, including community relations (in accordance with the ethical framework that a society uses to govern its affairs)

There are generally 2 types of Community Relations and Development events that CRD Councils support:

(1) organizing and executing a local event that aligns with the Community Relations and Development Key Events Calendar supported by CRDD-SCHAC (e.g. having a local version of the International Day of Peace Event, an event that the CRDD-SHAC officially endorses)

(2) organizing and executing a local event that arises from the desire to examine and shape key contributors to the quality of community life within a particular community (e.g. a particular CRD Council may be concerned about youth unemployment, particularly among minority youth, and decide to plan and execute an event that promotes internships for youth within the community)

General Steps in Planning and Executing a Community Relations and Development Event

A CRD Council or other partner decides to plan and execute an event(s) for the purposes of achieving some of the outcomes listed above

The CRD Council or other partner contacts the Community Relations and Development Division (CRDD) of SCHAC to propose and review the event

Members of the CRD Council (or other partner) and staff from CRDD-SHAC review the event proposal, and develop a general plan for the event (goals, general approach, location/facilities etc.)

Members of the CRD Council organize and execute the event (the level of support provided by CRDD-SCHAC will depend on the resources available and the skills/needs of the CRD-Council)

Members of the CRD Council and staff from CRDD-SHAC conduct a brief review of the event and decide on next steps (if any). This review includes how the nature and outcomes of the event will be communicated to the community
